I'm listening!

So I decided to sign all my blog posts with "I'm listening!"  It's what I do...I listen.....a lot. I have learned to do this over time but I am not naturally good at it. It takes focus and discipline and patience.....and you have to look interested even if you're not....so there is some acting involved.
Talking about her feelings, her problems, how her day went, etc. is extremely important to my wife. It puts her head in the right place so that her heart can follow along accordingly. I have learned this through much gnashing of teeth and failed attempts with lame excuses. That's right, I'm the dog Ginger above...sometimes all I hear is blah, blah, blah and then the inevitable "Are you listening?!"
Sometimes when she is venting, my mind drifts away to man land.....you know.....8 point buck in front of my stand / Tom Brady throws a perfect spiral / I need to get my oil changed tomorrow.....that place only men can go during conversations with women. It's who we are....talking about these kinds of things is just not natural for us. It's hard ladies, sometimes it's just plain hard.
I heard Chris Rock say one time when you get home from work and you don't wanna talk or listen.....you just have to remember three phrases to repeat occasionally when she says something:
  1. Uh-huh
  2. You don't say!
  3. I told you that bitch was crazy!
In order not to incriminate myself, I will not divulge how often I use these.

Thanks for the nice comments.....and followers. I promise to dress up my blog and follow y'alls in return.

  4. As the only female (besides a now dead cat and a brittany) who lives in this house, I think I understand exactly what you're saying! We can tell though - the blank stare gives them away every time!

Magnet on my fridge - "If Momma's not happy, aint nobody happy"!

    Have a GREAT one!

  5. I believe this is like all men...I have one of those too!
Woman have boxes in there brain and they go there to explain things and to be listened too...men DON'T have boxes! They just have an empty space and we are NOT invited!!!

    Keep up the great post!
