The Man Shed.

I don't have a man cave...it's a shed. It's a prefabbed 10X20 shed built by the Mennonites in Texas, which is  equivalent to the Amish fireplaces you see on TV......quality craftmanship and all that mumbo jumbo.
I insulated the shed, ran electricity to it my DAMN self, and I air conditioned it as well. In this shed I have my workshop and power tools, my collection of saws, and a lot of my hunting gear. I can pull my mower or 4 wheeler in there if necessary to work on them. I also have...wait for it...wait for it.....a satellite dish and flat screen in the shed. It is also well within WIFI range of the house, so internet is no problem.  It is Heaven on Earth. I would have sex with the shed if I could.
I know it sounds stupid, but it's very important for me to be able to go there and tinker around and be alone sometimes. It reminds of my childhood. I balance it, and I am keenly aware if Theresa starts giving me the subtle signs that I'm spending too much time out there, here's an example: "It's time for you to get the fu%# out of the man-shed and help clean up we are having a party tonight damnit!" These are not easy signals to read,  but I manage to stay in tune with her needs fairly easily.
Anyhow ladies, men need that manly place to go to contemplate life's great journey and whatnot. Don't deny them that...just give them that subtle little nudge when they go too far with it.

I'm Listening!

  1. I hope you were not in your man-shed at 3.56 am when you posted this! My husband also has his man-cave-shed....and lucky for me, he is also pretty good with my "subtle little nudges" when necessary.

  4. ha, you're funny, i bet you two are a riot to be around. i grew up in texas and haven't even visited in a WHOLE YEAR and i miss it desperately!!! so i'm impressed that you rigged it with A/C---maybe you can't get have sex *with* the shed but perhaps *inside* of it will do....after all, you have the basic necessity---cold air, and what woman wouldn't swoon with the added ambiance of hunting gear, power tools and 4 wheelers?

  6. ahhh just enough testosterone to balance out the nice post yesterday with the man cave post today :)...That is no shed...that is a bonafide man cave. It became a man cave when you added the flat screen...is there a kegerator? that would turn it from a man cave into a frat house..

    xxxooo

  7. How clever of you to pick up Theresea's subtle messages!

My fella has a man-cave too only it is in the garage so right now it is really, really cold.

  8. My poor John lost his true man cave when we moved from PA. Now he has his kayak and golf clubs. It would be nice if he could be home once in a while to enjoy them instead of working out of town!
